CHILDREN’S WISH FOUNDATION OF CANADA
It is beyond doubt how much the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada has contributed to our society. And we are very happy, here at DO-GREE Fashions, to have played our part in their sacred cause. Holding a vision that goes way back, the people of the Foundation have devoted their lives to one an only purpose. Children’s happiness. We all know, further introductions are unnecessary… This time, they come with a very moving story from a family in Ontario. That national manager Leigh Cudia had the courtesy to share with us. It features 2 sister’s, 12-year-old Rachel and 9-year-old Janneke, both of who were born with complex medical and developmental needs. Both children were approved for a wish, and rather than taking 2 separate wishes, their parents decided on 1 wish item that would serve both children. Their parents decided the best wish would be a lift and jacuzzi that both children would be able to use and bring them joy on a constant basis. And of course, their wish came true! Following that glorious day, mother of the family Sara Pot, wrote a beautiful letter describing her experience. No more words from us. Read her letter below:
“The lift is complete, and we are officially using the jacuzzi with all of us. Hooray! And yes, we are very very thankful. We've had some tough seasons in the last twelve years, and we know that there are rocky patches ahead. Yet, this gift has been an absolute highlight to the start of 2019. We remain grateful…
This is a story of thankfulness. It’s a story about two girls, 12-year-old Rachel and 9 year-old Janneke, who cannot say thanks, but in their own ways, foster a spirit of thanksgiving in their caregivers. So, in that spirit, to Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, we say thank you for the tremendous gift of warm water, soothing jets, and stimulating lights.
“Both Rachel and Janneke were born with significant medical and developmental needs that compromise their daily living. They are unable to walk, talk, or feed themselves, and these challenges both discourage and motivate our family’s desire to live with joy. The girls’ needs make travel extra complicated, so we often look for ways to create quality time at home. Adding to the desire to find something enjoyable, we also must consider their chronic pain issues due limit mobility”
The blessing of a jacuzzi is twofold: it allows our family to enjoy time at home together, and it also serves to soothe the physical pain, as the water and jets relax their tightened muscles. Thank you. Two small words with incredible depth. We cannot be certain of how much time we will have with our girls, but we can be certain the days will be filled with good and “waterful” memories…
